Occupational Therapy is a rehabilitation service that promotes health by enabling people to perform meaningful and purposeful activities. Occupational therapists work with individuals who suffer from a mentally, physically, developmentally, and/or emotionally disabling condition by utilizing treatments that develop, recover, or maintain individuals' activities of daily living. The therapist helps individuals not only to improve their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, but also to compensate for permanent loss of function. The ultimate goal of occupational therapy is to help individuals have independent, productive, and satisfying lives.
Vocational Counseling is a service that promotes job readiness. A counselor will work with an individual to evaluate skills, learn how to improve skills, learn how to successfully search for jobs, and develop methods for effectively applying and interviewing for work.
